Stantec Acquires WilsonMiller, Plans Stronger Presence In Tampa Bay Region

Stantec, a design and engineering firm with offices throughout North America, has acquired Naples-based WilsonMiller, a leading consultant in planning and development in the Tampa Bay region for five decades. WilsonMiller has been a go-to firm for government agencies, urban land, transportation, natural resources and rural land markets. With offices in Tampa and Sarasota, the firm has planned, designed and engineered projects throughout the Tampa Bay region, including redeveloping the Channelside district in Tampa and initial planning for residential communities in Sarasota’s Lakewood Ranch. “Joining with Stantec is the next step for us to take to become part of an international network that gives our clients access to a much wider range of services and expertise as well as provides our employees with better technical resources and more opportunities to grow their careers.” says Alan Reynolds, WilsonMiller chairman and CEO who will continue with Stantec. Jay Averill, Stantec’s manager of communications, says Florida’s potential and WilsonMiller’s reputation helped seal the deal for Stantec’s investment in the state. “One of the reasons we made the acquisition was because we feel that the Florida market has great potential. It has been one of the top markets in the U.S. for some time and despite the recent struggles, we’re confident that our investment in the state and in WilsonMiller is a very good one,” says Averill. “Our goal is to expand our presence by adding in Florida all the services we provide,” continues Averill. “That means growing into the architecture and building engineering, transportation, water and wastewater treatment, environmental management and remediation markets. We will do this through a combination of organic growth and acquisition.”Writer: Missy KavanaughSources: Jay Averill, Stantec; Alan Reynolds, WilsonMiller
