Xcelience: Tampa Pharma Company To Add 45 Jobs

Xcelience, LLC, a pharmaceutical development company in Tampa, plans to expand its facility and increase its staff by 45 within the next three years.

The company, which was founded in 1997, provides formulation development, analysis and manufacturing for the pharmaceutical industry. Xcelience has maintained its headquarters in Tampa since its inception.

"Our expansion plan will add 5 percent additional square feet to our current facility, and complete the purpose-built expansion of our new 24,000-square-foot facility enabling us to build a dedicated space and custom features specifically requested and required by our phrama client base," says Derek Hennecke, president and CEO of Xcelience.

The 45 new employees that Xcelience plans to hire will be added to the team over the next three years. Hennecke says the company will be hiring chemists, manufacturing technicians, project managers and quality assurance specialists. There is an immediate need for a chemist, a preformulation/formulation manager and a manufacturing technician.

While the company has always called Tampa home, Hennecke says that he has received solicitations to move the company out of Florida. With the expansion in Tampa, it looks like the company will stay, and Hennecke says he plans to keep it that way.

"We have a talented workforce to build upon, and our goal is to remain in this community," Hennecke says. "We want to be a part of the local economic turn-around that we see beginning to occur in the Tampa Bay area."
