USF Bio Lab Interprets Amphibian Fast Tongues

A University of South Florida biologist recently discovered the feeding methods of toads are not hindered by extreme cold temperatures.

Department of Integrative Biology Assistant Professor Stephen Deban and Kristopher Lappin of California State University Pomona recently published their findings in the Journal of Experimental Biology.

Deban and Lappin's results show that the elastic tongue mechanisms employed by some amphibians may be a survival strategy to endure cold temperatures, according to an article by USF News.
