The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority unanimously decided to support a light rail transit link to Tampa International Airport.
Light rail has been a possibility for the Tampa airport since the late '90s, according to
The Tampa Bay Business Journal.
Unlike high-speed rail, light rail is more localized, offers less passenger capacity and travels at slower speeds.
Board members, including Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio, also expressed support for the 1 percent sales tax increase that will appear on Hillsborough County ballots this fall.
