USF Collaborates With Pensacola Robotics Nonprofit

The Florida Institute for Human & Machine Cognition recently announced an agreement with the University of South Florida to conduct research in surgical robots, underwater autonomous vehicles and human-machine coordination.

IHMC is a Pensacola-based nonprofit institute of the Florida University System that was created in 2004. Its areas of concentration include robotics and artificial intelligence.

The research with USF could potentially lead to collaborations with the College of Medicine, College of Engineering and the College of Marine Science, according to a recent St. Petersburg Times article featuring IHMC CEO Ken Ford.
