London-based visual artist Christian Marclay was recently awarded the top prize at the Venice Biennale for his project “The Clock.”

“The Clock” is a 24-hour video mash-up of time represented through thousands of film clips that is synced so viewers experience it in real time.

Marclay was also recently named one of Newsweek‘s “10 Most Important Artists of Today.”

He is a frequent collaborator with the University of South Florida’s Graphicstudio and will return to Tampa to continue working on a project scheduled for completion by late summer 2011.
