USF Awarded FEMA Grant To Study Firefighter Injury Prevention

The University of South Florida was awarded a $701,173 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to research targeted back exercises and their effectiveness on preventing back injuries in firefighters. The university will conduct a 2-year study with the City of Tampa Fire Rescue.

The grant is the largest amount awarded in the state and the only "Research and Prevention" award in Florida.
