Florida Orthopaedic Institute Moves Into Former Borders Building, Tampa

Florida Orthopaedic Institute has completed renovations on its newest clinic in Tampa.

Currently open for patient care, the new clinic at 909 N. Dale Mabry Highway was once occupied by Borders before the company filed for bankruptcy, shutting down all of the bookstore locations in September 2011. Florida Orthopaedic Institute  signed a long-term lease with building owners.

“This location was chosen because of its ability to provide services to our patients from South Tampa all the way to those in Carrollwood,” says Florida Orthopaedic Institute COO Marc Katzin. “It's proximity to the interstate and Dale Mabry location provide easy access for our patients in addition to the benefits of a highly visible site.”

Turning the old into the new, the 27,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility is now dedicated to orthopedic care, featuring high-quality diagnostic technology, including digital X-ray and a 1.5 tesla MRI scanner, as well as services such as walk-in urgent care and physical and occupational therapy.

“As one of the premier orthopedic groups in Florida, our presence in this location and opening of our new Orthopaedic Urgent Care will allow patients in the Tampa Bay area greater access to the best orthopedic care,” Katzin says.

Urgent Care opened on Monday, Feb. 20th, providing immediate bone, joint and muscle care Monday through Saturday. Specialty-trained physicians are available to provide individualized treatment and care of orthopedic-related injuries and conditions.

“For those patients that do not wish to hassle with an emergency room visit, Urgent Care is here to serve their needs,” Katzin says.
