Tampa Company Hiring Mobile Developers, Interactive Designers

Absolute Mobile Solutions in Tampa, which develops and designs solutions for mobile platforms, plans to expand its team. The company was founded in 2000 and has grown to 50 employees worldwide, with six people in its Tampa office.

"We have a small group of people in our Tampa office, because mobile has historically not been popular in the U.S.," says Alfred Goldberg president of Absolute Mobile Solutions. "We grew in Europe due to the popularity of mobile; however, as mobile ramps up here in the states, it makes sense to hire more people here."

According to Goldberg, the company is currently hiring mobile developers and interactive designers, but is finding it difficult to identify people with experience because the technology is relatively new to the U.S.

"I am currently working with the International Academy of Design and Technology to develop the curriculum to teach mobile interaction design," Goldberg says. "For now, you usually hire a web or graphic designer and train them on mobile; however, as more schools offer mobile training, we will have a pool of qualified candidates right here in Tampa."

That's good because Goldberg says that he enjoys having his company headquarters in Tampa and doesn't plan to move.

"There is just the right mix of talented people in the labor force, and an environment where you can go to the beach any time of day," he says. "That is what is so great about this area."

Absolute Mobile Solutions is at 4017 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Tampa.
