Shark Tank Host At Innovation Conference, Tampa

Kevin Harrington from ABC's Shark Tank will be the featued guest when the Tampa Innovation Center hosts its annual Innovation Conference on Oct. 19th in Tampa.

The conference brings innovators and early stage entrepreneurs together for a day of networking and lively discussions on startup issues.

“We are doing things differently this year than we have in the past,” says Tonya Elmore, president of the Tampa Innovation Center. “In the past, we would have speakers discuss various issues, and the conference would be held in a hotel. This year’s event will be more casual and there will more time for one-on-one networking and small group discussions.”

In addition to networking opportunities, the conference will feature Harrington.

“Kevin Harrington from ABC’s Shark Tank will be talking about being on the cutting edge of innovation,” Elmore says. “He will hear a pitch from a couple of our clients and will give them feedback on their business. It will kind of be like a mini Shark Tank episode.”

Elmore says the conference is geared toward local innovators who have started up their own business and are looking to network with other entrepreneurs or Innovation Center mentors.

“We hope that attendees will leave the conference with some really good contacts and lessons learned,” Elmore says.

The Tampa Innovation Center’s Annual Conference will be Oct. 19th at the University of Tampa’s Vaughn Center, located at 401 W. Kennedy Blvd in Tampa. The cost to attend the event is $39 and registration can be completed online or by calling 727-547-7340.
