Stylist Brings Star Power To Sarasota

Mariah Carey, Olympia Dukakis, Queen Nora of Jordan, Gayle King and Tina Brown, former editor of Vanity Fair, not only share star quality but they've also been dolled up by Lucie Marino, celebrity stylist and beauty expert.

Marino brings 25 years of beauty industry experience and her star power to Sarasota with the opening of LEA (pronounced lay-uh) Hair and Beauty Salon at Hotel Indigo. Offering a range of hair and make-up services, Marino provides her one-on-one philosophy to high-profile clientele as well as to lesser-known customers.

"Whether the client is 2 or 90 years old, I give each person one-on-one time with me," Marino says. "Consultations are so important. I find out how they wash their hair, take care of their hair, how they take care of themselves, and I get to know them so that I can bring out their features and beauty from the inside."

A business trip for Marino's husband, Thomas, introduced her to Sarasota. After taking in the atmosphere and learning about Sarasota, Marino was impressed with Sarasota's education system and decided she wanted to raise her children here.

Her sons, Luca, 4, Aidan, 5, and Ethan, 8, are the inspiration for the new salon's name as the first letter of their names were used to form "LEA." Marino learned later that, coincidentally, "Lea" is her Hebrew name, too.

Much of Marino's business comes from referrals, and her schedule remains full. While owning and operating LEA at Hotel Indigo, she also serves her VIP clientele at Four Seasons in Palm Beach and at Warren Tricomi in New York City. "Lucie is so well-known in the industry that she has an agent in New York who books her for styling jobs across the country, " saysTheresa Nicholson, Marino's publicist.
