Lowry Park Zoo Gets Kudos For Conservation Efforts

Lowry Park Zoo recently rehabilitated and released three manatees at Apollo Beach Nature Park that were recovering from cold stress.

The zoo's efforts, along with similar efforts from the Columbus Zoo and the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens, were recently featured in a National Geographic blog by conservation biologist Jordan Schaul.

The blog highlights Lowry Park's research facilities and the David A. Straz Jr. Manatee Hospital, the only nonprofit hospital in the world dedicated to manatee rehabilitation.
