PEARL Homes plans to build first "net-zero" energy homes in Florida near Bradenton -- that is homes that generate as much, or possibly even more, energy than they consume. 

The Plus Projec+ has raised nearly $100,000 to help fund nonprofit organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community and will administer its first grants later this year. 

Among the first tenants in the Heights Union will be AxoGen, a medical tech company that specializes in creative surgical solutions; DPR Construction, which is building the office complex; and WeWork, a provider of co-working office space.

A $40-million grant from the Florida Department of Transportation will pay for new equipment, such as cameras, sensors, and fiber-optic cables, as well as software, to pave the road for a rollout of connected vehicles by 2020.
